Rare GB Edinburgh cancel Penny red QV stamp Plate 77 FORGERY / REPLICA a/f. In 2016 a genuine Plate 77 1d red sold for �495,000 making it the UK’s second most valuable stamp. Only 1 sheet of 240 stamps were printed from Plate 77 in 1863. The plate was rejected and destroyed along with most of the stamps except 9 that escaped with only 5 genuine examples known to exist with a few of those in museums
